A lot of us readers are secretly admiring all of our favourite authors and think "I wish I could be an author someday"... I've been creating little stories in my head since I can remember and I've written a short story or two, but I never put one of my longer stories on paper. That was, until a week ago. I downloaded the free trial version of Scrivener (a writing software thing - for more info visit their site) and just got on with it.
I declare May the month where I will spend one hour every day to Project And-Now-I'm-Gonna-Write-The-Damn-Thing, or Project ANIGWTDT for short. Okay, I might have to work on the name for a bit.
For those of you who are curious about my writing endeavours, I made a separate blog for it. Visit me! I just posted a very cool excerpt, check it out (:
So what about you guys? Do you ever dream of becoming a published author? Or do you write yourself? (If so, leave me a link, I would love to add you to my little "Fellow Writers" list!)

Good luck! I dream of the writer thing and joined a group on the wonderful site writing.com to start and finish writing a novel this year. But then I couldn't think of a topic so unless the creative streak inside me raises its head, the writer is dozing off..ZZZ
Actually yes, I do dream of becoming a published author too :) I actually just downloaded some free writing software too: http://www.spacejock.com/yWriter5.html. I really like it 'cause it's super organized, and this exactly what I needed, with about 6-7 stories floating around in my head right now, lol! I havent actually started writing any because of the amount of attention my school work needs right now, but I'm hoping come June I'll be able to set aside some time to actually start writing these stories.
I have been contemplating creating a seprate blog to for just my writing, but I haven't done so yet...though I probably should.
Anyway, good luck to you with your writing!
Thanks Pragya! Aww, I'm sure you'll come up with a story (: Mine came to me while I was reading a Stephen King book... And it's a medieval fantasy story, which is as unrelated as it can get. I'll have to check out that writing site
That's why I love Scrivener too, it's so great to organise stuff with! yWriter looks like a similar programme as far as I can tell without actually downloading it. Outlining and writing scene by scene really helped getting my story along (:
I hope you can find time to write soon then. Six to seven stories seems like a whole lot of story to have floating around in your head. If you do decide to create a separate blog (you should!) do let me know. I'd love to add you to my cool sidebar thingy :D
Yay, Scrivener! I've tried a few writing programs and I really liked that one. I really love Storybook as well.
Are you familiar with NaNoWriMo? I've been participating for about 7 years now. November is National Writing Month and NaNo's goal is for participants to write a 50,000 word story during the month. It's seriously awesome and the community is just phenomenal. Everyone wants to help each other and cities organize meet-ups for writing and it's great.
I actually just signed up for Camp NaNoWriMo! It starts in June, and as far as I can tell it's pretty much the same as the November NaNoWriMo one. I'm not going to reach that 50,000 words though probably, but I thought I'd participate because you meet so many awesome people there (:
:D YAY!! Good luck & have fun!
