Bout of Books 4.0 Readathon: Updates

I decided to make one big post where I update my progress instead of cluttering the sidebar with all these different posts.

For more info on the readathon, visit the Bout of Books website. You find see my reading stack and goals here.

I'll also be using this post to participate in some challenges (:

As part of the Monday challenge, Sarah asks: “What do you like best about readathons? Do you have any readathon traditions or rituals? If this is your first readathon, what do you like so far?”

Readathons are made of awesome! Seriously, if you've never participated in one, you should try it! So far I've been liking the low-pressure ones best. It's more about the community feel than actually reading a lot. You will still read more than you usually do - but it's not a contest.
I don't have any real traditions. I guess talking way too much on Twitter and forgetting to read is a tradition? I always make a neat little stack of books that I want to read as a visual reminder that I'm doing a readathon. And I eat lots of snacks!

There's an awesome challenge today, hosted by The Reading Housewives of Indiana. It's about books AND shoes! I love shoes! Here are some book-shoe combos I made:

I love these boots! I think Rachel would agree, even though they're not knee length.

Okay, these shoes have absolutely nothing to do with either zombies or unicorns, but they got such an awesome print that I had to put them next to something equally shiny.

Another Harrison book. The main character Madison loves colour and even has purple hair. I think she would like my new All Stars (:

250 pages already? That's great :) I didn't like The Restaurant at the End of the Universe much, much Hitch-hiker's Guide is one of my all favourite books. I might read it for this read-a-thon actually - I'm doing better than I expected so I might have time...

LOL, Celine! I am guilty of too much tweeting, snacking and less reading too. ;)

Ah Ashfall! Ashen Winter on the list?

Great progress so far! I read just about the same amount too. Have no idea how many pages I've read today. I won't know for sure until I convert the page count on my ebook. Hopefully it's about the same. Happy reading!

Ooooh look at you, making great progress!  I'm so looking forward to Thursday being a holiday and having Friday off work - I'm going to read like crazy!

You're doing great Kimba! Thanks (:

Celine said...

Hehe thanks Kat ^^ Ohh, that sounds great, I bet you can get a LOT of reading done then!

Celine said...

Thanks Shirley (: You're doing great too then! I hope you're enjoying your books

I have Ashen Winter, but I think I'll read it a bit closer to the release date (: Thanks for stopping by!

You should! I'm constantly amazed by Adams's endless imagination.. I actually quite liked Restaurant, but I can see why you might not.

Hope you're enjoying the readathon! (:

Great progress!

3 books in 3 days, awesome! It usually takes me about 3 days to read one book. Great work so far! :D Interested in hearing what you thought of Eve.

P.S. I got Disqus comments like you! The ones I had before were really annoying and I remembered these nice ones on your blog. :D For some reason it isn't updating the # of comments under each post on my home page though, if you know what I mean. Any thoughts? (Sorry for bothering, if you don't know it's no biggie)

Thanks Shirley! (:

Me too, I read about two books in an average week. Yay for readathons (:

On the Disqus thing - I'm glad you got Disqus too! I really like the comment system, it's very easy and looks great. I see the number of comments still aren't updating on your blog.. I'm not sure why, I'm not that great with computers ): I'd recommend you trying to contact the Disqus people either through Twitter or their support (you can find it here). They are super nice! I've contacted them a few times concerning some issues, and they've helped me very quickly. Hope that helps (:

Don't worry about asking me a question, I'd be happy to help!

It looks like you have everything set up correctly. The counter on your homepage is actually delayed about 5 minutes, do you think this is what caused the confusion?

Linny @ Linnys Literature said...

Me neither! I really need to take a computer class sometime or something because I'm always getting headaches from it, haha.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly on here and on GoodReads, I appreciate it. :) I'm definitely going to contact them and I'll let you know how it goes!

Linny @ Linnys Literature said...

Hi Ryan, thanks for the help. I don't think it's that though, since a post I made on Wednesday and it still says "0 Comments" at the bottom but then I click on the post and it has 21 comments. Not sure what's up.

I just ordered Photoshop for Dummies, so I can at least make my own blog design one day. My boyfriend is going to study knowledge engineering, so maybe he can help me with the stupid code thingies one day :D

Don't worry about being a nag (you're not), I completely get that you want this problem fixed.

Good luck! (:

OK I see what's happening - Blogger serves a different domain name depending on which country you come from. Unfortunately this wreaks havoc on Disqus thread identification. We have some suggestions, so please email us here: http://disqus.com/support -- be sure to put "Attn. Ryan" in the subject so I can find it easily!

Linny @ Linnys Literature said...

Oh wow, I didn't know you worked there. I'm sorry Ryan, I already sent out an email just a minute ago.. I titled it "Comment Count not updating" if that helps. Sorry. Thank for helping me!

Linny @ Linnys Literature said...

Yay, I'm sure it'll look great when you figure it out! And that's what boyfriends are for, right? ;)

Thank you! Ryan (convo above) seems to be able to help! :D And sorry for spamming your comment section, haha. I think I've got like 8 here. :P

Love your shoes! Happy Friday!

Celine said...

Don't worry about that, I like comments :D Even if they're not directed at me. Wait, that sounds a little bit sad...

I think Ryan helped me too once. Hope everything works out :D

Celine said...

Hehe, thanks! :D

Celine said...

Aww, thank you Sidne (:

You used your real shoes?! Love it! I love the Zombies vs. Unicorns shoes!

Celine said...

Yeah, I decided that since I own so many shoes I could use those for the challenge ^^ Thanks, they're one of my favourites!

Celine said...

Haha, thank you Sarah! ^^ (A very late thank you. Better late than never!)
