In My Mailbox

It's time for In My Mailbox, a weekly meme by The Story Siren!

I'm in a bit of a Netgalley slump. For some reason publishers that I have been accepted for before like to decline me now. I hope it's nothing I've been doing wrong, and that it goes away again quickly. I did get accepted for a book from Carina Press (yay!) and Zondervan (never read a book from them before, but I'm looking forward to).

Click on the cover to go to the Goodreads page.

For Review:

Interrupted is a kind of historical drama about a girl that loses her mom and she has to go live with some other woman. World War II is just around the corner, and there is some confusing love interest. It's written by a 15-yearold, so I'm a teeny tiny bit wary of the tone being too juvenile, but I'll try not to be too prejudiced. (:
Thanks Zondervan!

This Carina Press title looks really cool. I've really enjoyed a lot of their steampunk novellas so far, and I hope Heart of Perdition will be just as engaging.

I had an email through a few weeks ago that they were clamping down on sending out review copies outside of the territories the publisher had rights for. So that might explain it. Check to see if the ones you've been declined for have the same publisher in Europe as the US.

I didn't know Interrupted was written by a 15 year old! :O I recently got Slipping Reality for review and it was written by a 14 year old. It makes me so frustrated, I'm so old and yet have to write something. Ha ha. ;D

I hope you will enjoy the books!

Here's my IMM. ♥

Hm okay, I didn't know that... That could explain it though. I've been emailing some publishers, to see if I can get the review copies directly, and not through Netgalley. I hope that helps. Thanks for the heads up!

Carina Press are pretty good for steampunk. I was reading their Chistmas steampunk anthology and quite enjoying it (until it wasn't Christmas any more).

Haha, I got stranded in the middle of the anthology too! I have no idea what to do with it now Christmas is over...

Interrupted sounds like it has a good concept, but okay, I just prefer books by grown ups. I know, I know, that's horrible to say. But still. I hope you love both of your books this week! :-D

I haven't seen of either of these but I'm going to look into them.
Happy reading

Both books have really pretty covers! I've read a few books by younger authors and have been pleasantly surprised.

I'm really curious Interrupted, I've been seeing it advertised a lot. I'm a bit skeptical of a teen writing, but then again who better to write about teens?!

Thanks for stopping by mine!

I hadn't heard of Interrupted, but it sounds interesting. I'm not sure, though, since it was written by a teen ... sometimes we aren't as good of writers as we think we are.

You're right - Interrupted has lots of potential! I hope it's awesome.
