This Week's New Books

If you're wondering why I'm not having an IMM - read this post.

There are so many new "Look at my new books!" memes that I'm having troubles choosing. I know a few of the hosts personally and I don't feel like picking teams on this one. So, I introduce my own conglomeration of all the memes out there! If you're hosting a similar meme or if one of your friends hosts one, let me know and I'll add their graphic (:

Okay so maybe being on a ban isn't that easy. I went on a trip with my boyfriend yesterday to the city I'll be moving to in a few months and he kind of forced me into the book stores (how awful when that happens!). The Charlaine Harris is a gift from him, and the Terry Pratchett one I bought myself. They're both from series I already own, so I don't have to feel bad about starting a new series again ^^

Click on the covers to go to their Goodreads page.

Gifted:

I'm currently rereading this series and still loving it! I'm at book three right now, the furthest I've come was book four a few years ago. I hope I'll like the last few books, the reviews have been rather aggressive..

Bought:

I absolutely love the crazy Discworld books Terry Pratchett has written, and I'm collecting his books now. That should keep me occupied for a while!

So what do you have in your mailbox, on your shelf or to showcase? Leave a comment with your link so I can visit you back!

I read my first Discworld book a few months ago after borrowing one from a friend. I really enjoyed it, in fact I have another that I recently borrowed lined up on my TBR pile! I haven't read any Charlaine Harris, but I think my brother has read that series and I remember him saying he enjoyed it. Happy reading!

I know, there are so many! I just link to Vicky's, I don't really like having all the overly colourful logos on my blog so just have a text link.

Book bans are hard, especially when someone takes you into a store, I said I wasn't going to buy anything this month, but I just happened to walk into one with my mom yesterday lol. I hope you enjoy them :)

I do like the Sookie Stackhouse series. I am also a fan of True Blood. I don't get HBO so I am always eager when the new season comes out on DVD. Season 4 is sitting next to me right now. My new book posts are here and here. Happy reading!

I've tried to read a book from Terry Pratchett a long time ago, but I didn't like it.. Perhaps if I give it another try.

Happy reading! :D

I haven't read any of the Sookie Stackhouse series. I have heard pretty good things about them. I'll have to add them to my TBR.

I admit, I love the Sookie Stackhouse series, even if it is seriously cheesy! Hope you enjoy both of your new books!

Sookie Stackhouse series is amazing! But the last books are of course not as good as the first. I think when a series gets this long, it just can't be helped! A character can only go through so much ya know? BUT I still enjoyed Dead Reckoning and I look forward to the next installment! Enjoy :)

I love the Sookie Stackhouse series.  I should re-read them!

I'm a new follower :)

I've read only ONE Sookie Stackhouse book and feel like it's too late to catch up. Great post. It was so sweet of your hubby to get you a book despite the book buying ban :)

I'm in the process of collecting Terry Pratchett's Discworld series too, trawling charity stores and buying used books off amazon! I've only read a few but found them hilarious and love them! Happy Reading :)

Last year, one of my friends leant me the first in the Sookie Stackhouse series.  I pretty much chain read them until I'd powered through the first 10! I know that a lot of people don't rate them but I couldn't help but read them compulsively!  Which reminds me that I need to get to the most recent :)

The Light Fantastic looks like a good MG. Great haul! :D

A guy who has read the Charlaine Harris books? I'm impressed! Usually they seem too girly for guys. The Discworld books are absolutely brilliant (: Thanks for stopping by Kit!

Celine said...

I don't mind the graphics so I just kind of link to them all. It looks kind of funny with three different IMM memes in one post

Celine said...

Thanks Kelsey (: Rawr, it's so mean to take people on a ban to a bookstore! I can't help myself when I see all those pretty covers

Celine said...

They're great (: I hope if you pick them up that you'll enjoy them too!

Celine said...

I should watch some more True Blood.. I've only seen the first season. They don't air it here in the Netherlands any more, so maybe I should purchase the DVDs soon

Celine said...

He has a very particular sense of humour. It could be that it's just not for you (:

Celine said...

Haha, he is the best. For me it's a tie between books and food. I completely melt when he cooks for me too.

Celine said...

I hope it is, heard from a lot of people that they didn't like it!

Celine said...

Thanks Dani!

Celine said...

They're very addicting (: Hope you like them!

Celine said...

Haha, they're definitely cheesy, but oh so good. Thanks Megan!

Celine said...

Yeah, very true. I also read the Laurell K Hamilton series (Anita Blake) and I'm on book 8 now and you just feel that at some point a series just has to stop. But I'm not one to give up on characters I grow attached to, so I'll just stick with it (:

Celine said...

Yay, thanks for the follow Jenny (: Glad to hear you like them too!

Celine said...

It's never too late, the furthest I came was book four. Rereading them from scratch now. They're very fast reads (:

Celine said...

I came up to 4 last time too! But I own the entire box set now, so I can just keep on reading.

Celine said...

Thanks Eileen!

Celine said...

There are so many! It will take a while to collect all of them (: Thanks for stopping by Rebecca

Celine said...

They're such fast reads! And addicting. I keep on thinking "I want to pick one up. Can't I just read a Sookie book before this review book?". I'm glad to hear you enjoy them ^^

Celine said...

Thanks Fara! If you mean MG as in Middle Grade, the Terry Pratchett books are actually adult (:

Marina-Chick Library Cat said...

Enjoy your reading. Thanks for sharing with all of us.

Thanks Marina!

You'll have to tell me how the Charlaine Harris book was! I keep seeing it everywhere and I've no idea if it's any good or not. :) Great haul!

Celine said...

They're great! She has two series, the Sookie Stackhouse ones (paranormal) and a mystery one. I own the paranormal series (up to book 11) and they're extremely addicting. They usually also contain a fair amount of mystery too, so I think you might like them (:

Cayce said...

Lol, we're the same. I couldn't choose one meme, either.
I want to read the new Sookie book so much! Can't wait to get my hands on it :)

draconismoi said...

Terry Pratchett's books keep getting better and better. Even his YA spinoff (Tiffany Aching).

The Sookie books, however, started going downhill right around book 5 or 6. Depending on your vampire vs shifter preference. If you need more Eric, Sookie and Sam, just watch True Blood.

Celine said...

Haha, glad to hear I'm not the only one! Ohh, nice (: Hope you'll like it

Celine said...

I haven't read much of Terry Pratchett's yet (he has written so many!), but I'm glad to hear his YA ones are good too (:

It makes me a bit sad that the Sookie books get downhill from 6, because I really do like Eric. But yeah, I never thought Ms Harris would let her end up with him, I guess they're just too different. I will heed your advice though, and watch some more TB :D

Diane said...

The Sookie  books I've only read one, Terry Pratchett, not at all. I do enjoy the True Blood TV show though.

Celine said...

Glad to hear you at least enjoy the show, Diane
